Winter in the Garden

The calendar says it is fall, but evidently Mother Nature missed the memo. Over the weekend we had our first hard freeze. Lows were in the low 20s and a couple of days the high never got above 40.

The kitchen garden took a real beating – you can see the dahlias on the left and the tomato plants on the right. Kinda sad! Almost depressing.

HARDFROST

The greenhouse, however, came through like a champ. So there is no need to be depressed!  Tomatoes and peppers are flowering and setting fruit like mad!

And speaking of flower – how about the Marigolds?

But better than the flowers are the tomatoes and peppers:

They make us very happy, but the creatures around our house that are the most happy about the greenhouse are right here

I am happy to report that all of us, David and I, plants and cats are safe, warm and thriving even if Mother Nature is slightly confused.
